In this session, Dr. Regina Olasin, a double board-certified physician in internal medicine and pediatrics, shares her 37-year career serving vulnerable populations. Starting as the only pediatrician in a rural county, she devoted her practice to holistic medical care, emphasizing the importance of treating the entire patient. Dr. Olasin recounts her transformative experiences, including working with developmentally disabled individuals and the homeless, and her involvement in medical education and advocacy. She reflects on the challenges of balancing professional goals with personal experiences of guilt and unworthiness, and discusses her plans post-retirement, including writing and continued advocacy.
